National Fire Prevention week starts October 7th through the 13th. The theme this year is "Practice your escape plan" so take a couple of minutes to look around your home or workplace and find the nearest exit. I always think about the ONE thing I would grab on the way out of my house if there was a fire. MY COMPUTER! :) The San Luis Obispo Fire Dept, is holding it's annual Open House on Saturday, October 13th from 10-3, so take your little kid/brother/sister/niece/nephew/babysittee to this event so they can sit in the fire truck! :)
Okay, so now you all get a glimpse into my worklife. I think about safety, health, fire, hazards, exposure, cuts, spills, burns, regulations, inspections, training, flu shots, blood drives, all freaking day long, every day! Yeah, it's a relatively easy job, but it is also very important and at times, scary! You'd think I'd be a stresscase by now!
Speaking of fires, I am going camping this weekend and I plan on making a lovely campfire. :) What a good role model, eh? We are going to this campground called Plaskett Creek up hwy 1 near Gorda. I have been wanting to go camping for quite awhile now. My dad got me a tent for graduation, and I haven't used it yet (and I graduated almost two years ago, how pathetic!) So, I got some new chairs, an air bed, bug spray, a cooler, some rain ponchos (JIC), and of course lots of food and beer! Woot!
In other news, I will be going to Steve's parent's house in Mountain Ranch (Calaveras County in northern CA) for Christmas this year. I am thrilled that finally I get to spend Christmas with a lover! Steve has told me all about where he grew up, so I am really looking forward to seeing it with my own eyes, and meeting more of his family. He said he has never taken a girl home for Christmas! Wahoo! Afterwards, he is coming with me to my dad's house in Gardnerville, then we will probably take our time coming back home...new years plans are still up in the air. It will be nice having 11 (paid) days off in a row!!!!!!!!!! Life is good.
no campfires allowed :( It was sooo sad and COLD!!! BOO!
